  I found out about the Greenhorn Grill while planning a road trip. Google maps gave me the location and the reviews were decent so I decided to give it a shot. After a long day of driving and some adventures in the snow while trying to find it, we arrived at the Greenhorn Grill. The roads were still covered in a thin layer of snow and ice, and the area around the grill was quiet for a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived we were greeted with a smile and given a table by the window. My brother and I both ordered the fish and chips and we weren't disappointed. Four thick pieces of fish, a pile of fries, incredible homemade tarter sauce and ..what's that? Two fried macaroni and cheese balls? Yeah, it was that kind of lunch. Needless to say, I haven't been that satisfied with a meal in a while. We finished our meals and said our goodbyes, then headed on our way. I'm already planning my next trip and I can't wait to come back!

  Greenhorn Grill is an amazing place -- well worth what it costs and what it takes to get there. Follow Route 155 six miles up the mountain from Wofford Heights CA, then look for the signs and follow them. Despite some improbable-looking roads, you'll eventually discover a top-end steakhouse with excellent food, service, and ambience. Inside the large, rustic building is a dining room and a bar room; outside is a large patio where food and drinks are also served when the weather is good. The menu features steak-type items, but there's a wide variety of other good food to please all palates, plus two or three weekly specials. We've always had great meals there, and never a bad one. The bar is full service, including several beers on tap. The staff and patrons are always friendly. Pricing is a little on the high side but is well worth it -- considering you get a lot of really good food (generally enough for a second meal), really good service, and a unique setting in the mountains high above Lake Isabella.

  Upon arrival I was really excited to stop at this cute local bar with great reviews on google. As we walked into the nearly empty resturant we were greeted by a dismal dreary young man who's attitude proved he was just there to watch the latest superhero movie at maximum volume on the big screen tv. I thought "no big deal" as I made the decision to sit with the bartender with hopes of a better experience. Everything was great as he poured my beer, checked my id twice and went over the all-verbal menu. He then asked for my girlfriends id at which time he asked us to relocate to a table because she wasnt old enough to sit at the bar. Legal stuff, i get it; once again im thinking "no big deal". We sit at a table and as expected the young man truly seemed like he just wanted us to leave. So before ordering anything further we decide to pay and leave. I leave her with some cash, and a 3 dollar tip for the bartender (who up to this point seemed like a decent guy) and went to start the car. A few minutes later she comes through the door panicked with the bartender in tow yelling at her and looking very aggressive. She jumps in the car and with fear in her voice exclaims "just go, just go!" I start driving. Her side of the story is: tried to leave the money, bartender said it's illegal for her to pay, she said I'll grab my boyfriend, I'm dissatisfied with my experience here. he got angry and said he was going to report her for... "illegally trying to pay the bill" (lol) and was leaving the building to get my lisence plate. And if that experience wasn't bad enough. I had the added bonus of running into the bartender at a gas station the next day. I apologised to him and offered him a 20 dollar bill while stating "i understand my girlfriend wasnt old enough to pay for my beer yesterday". The bartender proceeded to take pictures of my car, repeatedly refered to my girlfriend as "that bitch" and his character was again the defenition of belligerent. This was the worst experience I've ever had at any resturant. To me, it's a real shame because if the food is as good as people say, greenhorn grill could have been really great with some good employees.
